One day, the commander of Tót’s son, who is fighting on the Russian front, comes to the home of the Tót family in Mátraszentanna. He compels the family to pack up. Örkény wrote the work with the victims of the disaster on the Don River in mind. Director Attila Vidnyánszky’s production is also not about war in general, but the conflagration of the Second World War specifically.

Miklós Hubay (1918-2011) originally wrote this play for Klára Tolnay and Imre Sinkovits in 1959, and the two great artists would perform it for four decades.
